Re: Reluctant?
I hadn't given it much thought but wouldn't put pictures of my children on the net, though I'm very proud of them just dont have a reason to do it.

Re: Reluctant?
I have pic of my kids on here, not that you can see much of them but dont see the issue with it, i'm proud of them and like to show them off. What about child models then, its the same thing. It's everyones own personal views which we are all entitled to but I dont see the problem with it. Next time my boys are at a party and a photographer form the paper is there should I keep them out of the photo??? All seems a bit extrememe really

Re: Reluctant?
I haven't got a problem with it. I just think that if paedophilia floats your boat there is much more interesting material to be found out there on the net than pics of Accyweb members' children.

Re: Reluctant?
i dont have a problem with it - and as a photographer who sometimes does street photography i am often approached by people asking what i am doing and how do i use the photos - most people are happy enough when i give them a card with the address they can find the pics and i even offer to email pics to them for their own use - although i am not lawfully obliged to do this, or get permission if it is a public place.
how many times have ourselves and children been captured on cctv cameras that are becoming more evident in towns now - i guess that is a thought that will frighten the pants off you Blazey ! sorry - ( Hijab anyone?)

Re: Reluctant?
Can't see a problem with it personally.
People are bound to want to show their pride and joy off to the rest of the world and why not?
Like it has already been stated they will be seen hundreds of times a day by people in the street on ,cctv etc...
I will gladly do the same one day when i am lucky enough to become a mum!

Re: Reluctant?
I don't have a problem with it, its not that much different than putting your kids picture in the paper under the bonny baby competition or they could be online attending an event where there are photographers about...even on TV in the background...

Re: Reluctant?
Being on CCTV or TV in the background isn't exactly a problem as the focus isn't on the child. I was just wondering if anyone had any worries about it thats all.

Yes it was your pictures that made me think about it. Think you have one of your niece on the beach somewhere.

Re: Reluctant?
Have got to say, I sort of agree with Blazey here. Think its my job to protect my child from everything I can. When hes old enough to post his own pic, then thats up to him. Until then, I prefer to go on the side of caution.
Have got to say as well, if I had a street photographer take photos of my son, I wouldnt be happy. Could be any random wierdo taking photos (no offence!).
Yes its probably me being over protective, but would prefer that rather than anything else. Not having a go at anyone that does have their childrens photos anywhere, its just a case of personal preference i guess

Re: Reluctant?
I wouldn't be happy with the street photographer either.

Re: Reluctant?
well i have to say that "street photography" is a genre of photography as a whole so when i say i do street photography i dont charge people in the street to have their photograph taken i take pictures of scenes that may convey emotion to the viewer
- it is the right of anybody with a camera to take a picture of anything they can see whilst stood on public land/property.
onlyme- i have morals - if i took a picture of you or your son or both together whilst on public land and you saw me and asked me to delete it then i would do so because i wouldnt want you to feel uncomfortable-however it is not the law that i have to
do people not enjoy looking at old photographs of accrington or their local town to see how much it has changed?
- when you see the people in them i am guessing that your first thought is not " oh gosh what an invasion of their privacy"
perhaps you think about what they may have been doing - going to work, about to do shopping, meeting other half for a romantic dinner, where they might be going.
street photogrpahy is not meant as a means to invade privacy it is mant to capture a moment in time that others may look at and have their curiosity raised.
yes i can fully understand that it can feel akward and you feel that people shouldnt have the right to do it but hey think of the joy that can be had from it.

Re: Reluctant?
agree with that description Keetah, the differance to me lies between scenes n just people. if ya get my drift.
