Yes, God's obviously a socialist.

There was definiitely a leaning towards the left, threatening the Con club.

It shows you don't know much about the Fire Brigade, & turnout times, many times when I served at the old fire station in Manchester Rd Acc, we could be passing Oswaldtwistles fire station, as they were just turning out, when the decline in manufaturing started, and mills were closing, the justification for a fire station at Ossy also declined.

I suppose there was no justification for a fire station in Ossy in the first place; surely it would have been far better for all of us to let the entire town just burn down.

Good point,But the fire station closed a long time before the Tesco shop was built.I think It was shortly after the invention of the Thermostatically controlled deep fat fryer but I may be wrong (again).

Err....wrong, as usual, Jaysay.

The fire station in Church was located almost next door to the Thorn Pub. The building was demolished in the early '70's. Houses are now on the site - somewhat more useful than a supermarket chicken shed, as in Ossy.

It might have been demolished in the 70s but it must have been a hell of a lot longer since they had any sort of engine housed there, must have been in the days of horse drawn tenders Tealeaf

Yeah...I think it was. But it's the principle that counts.

I have a vague recollection that there was a date on the building, about 1906 - which suggests it was put up just after the Steiner's and Foxhill Bank fires a few year's earlier.

Steiners had their own firemen, I know because my Grandfather was the fire chief there for years
