Roadworks Lancs V Cumbria ?

An item on Granada News last night made me think. The A591 in Cumbria was ripped up by the December floods, in total 6.6 miles had to be cleared and rebuilt. It was reopened yesterday. King Street Accrington closed in February, 600yards? its still closed! creating holdups on Blackburn and Hyndburn roads. Would it be possible for the Cumbrian crew to come down and sort out Accrington?

A bit like the work on the £40million Penine Reach. It was scheduled to take 40 weeks and the Blackburn section is still like a dogs breakfast more than a year on.
I do not go into Blackburn much, but each time I have gone through, it has looked like very little has been done

That mess is even worse than ours.

Perhaps all the competent members of the Accrington team were moved to Cumbria? That would cause delays in accy. There again, maybe if when your out and about on your motorbike if you didn't side slip towards the junctions the roads would need less repairs?
About time you put a post forward, now I can finally say it, welcome to the site bro'.

Re: Roadworks Lancs V Cumbria ?

Hate that word " Cumbria". Its like back in Bolton they put us in Greater Manchester in 1974 : a much detested name and association . I never spoke to anyone from Bolton who says they're not from Lancashire and its always on the post Bolton, Lancs.
That being said Westmorland & Cumberland are far more enchanting and historical names. Cumbria is the same as Gtr Manchester : unwanted and fake. Doesn't Kendal Westmorland sound beautiful compared to C*****a !!! and Ulverston and Barrow belonged to us : "LNOTS" : Lancashire north of the sands .
