Robert Napper's confession to the killing of Rachel Nickell
There is a programme on BBC 1 (crimewatch update) at this time that to my mind shows the total incompedence of the investigating police ...saying that the actual police are on this programme appearing proud of thier investigations.... these so called professional, police are dumnuts employed by the taxpayer are still in active service ..in well paid jobs .... they should be put in the stocks !

Re: Robert Napper's confession to the killing of Rachel Nickell
Even more proof that we need a national D.N.A. data base.
Colin Stagg wouldn't have had sixteen years of his life ruined, and two young mothers, and one child, might not have been killed if this 'person' had been caught earlier.

Re: Robert Napper's confession to the killing of Rachel Nickell
i don't like the idea of a "data base " on anyone.. these police have been shown time after time to be incompetent... fiddling notes..stiching up people.. when will we awake to the fact that they are just not up to the job?

'They had not looked very hard. Some eight weeks earlier, a 31-year-old mother reported to police that she had been raped in her home in front of her children. The intruder entered the house through the rear door, armed with a Stanley knife and wearing a mask.
The woman's house backed on to Plumstead Common. Police had taken DNA from the woman, which had they bothered to interview Napper and take a blood test, they might well have matched to him.'
Rachel Nickell case: Missed clues that allowed Robert Napper to kill again | UK news | guardian.co.uk
I don't care if you, or anyone else dislikes the idea.
The fact is that if D.N.A. data base had been available, two young women, and one child, wouldn't all have been sexually violated and killed, and one innocent man wouldn't have had the finger of suspicion pointing at him for the past sixteen years.

Re: Robert Napper's confession to the killing of Rachel Nickell
The fact is there was D.N.A. evidence from an earlier rape.
If that D.N.A. had been run through a national data base, the guilty person could have been caught.
Three people could be alive today, who were killed by this monster. Fact.
Happily I'm not one of those paranoid conspiracy theorists, who worry about the missuse of my identity.
I'm more than happy that my blood group, finger prints, and dental records are in the public domain.
I even carry a mobile phone. A phone the same that has been used to secure convictions, through the tracking and positioning of criminals.
It would save lives.
Therefore I ain't bothered.

Re: Robert Napper's confession to the killing of Rachel Nickell
there was some DNA found in some church up north somewere that matched the same... but the police later said it was just a one in 5.000000000 thousand million trillion chance..and it was a match but because the man was in jail at the time of the murder it was not him....
stick your DNA up were you like!

I'm not saying the police weren't incompetent, they most clearly were.
The whole case against Stagg was a fiasco, but could have been cleared up a whole lot sooner if the D.N.A. evidence had been used properly.
At the time this part of southwest London was my manor, and Rachel Nickell was a friend of a friend of mine.

I think the problem with this case was that the police suffered from tunnel vision, they got it into there minds that Stagg was guilty and stopped looking elsewhere. I totally agree if there was a data base, Stagg would not have had his life ruined and the right man would have been where he belonged, behind bars and another two lives would have been saved.

The judge quite rightly stopped the original trial of Stagg, because of the way the 'honey trap' evidence was gathered.
In this country you can't be tried for the same crime twice.
The police, quite wrongly, said they weren't looking for anyone else in relation to the murder of Rachel Nickell. Meaning, by implication, that Colin Stagg was guilty, but couldn't be prosecuted.
The media of course backed up the police idea that Stagg was guilty of this crime.
Many lives, Stagg, the victims and their families, have had their lives ruined by this total fiasco.
Heads should roll.

I think the problem there Rindi is that those responsible are probably no longer there, senior coppers that is

Re: Robert Napper's confession to the killing of Rachel Nickell
I would'nt be at all surprised to find out that this chap Napper is also responsible for the death of Suzy Lamplugh.
She had arranged to meet a man who in her appointments diary she called Mr Kipper...quite a coincidence that!!
Would hope the police have looked into this.

Probably not crossed their mind.
They'd probably think Mr. Kipper was a red herring.

Re: Robert Napper's confession to the killing of Rachel Nickell
Tis a bit fishy lol.
Seriously though, Suzy Lamlugh comes to the fore every time a killer is convicted. John Cannan & Michael Sams spring to mind.

Re: Robert Napper's confession to the killing of Rachel Nickell
Does seem plausible though that someone called Napper could use the name Kipper as a pseudonym.
