Roll on March.

My dear old gran was always telling me not to wish my time away, but Roll on March I say.
Whose idea was it to mess about with the clocks. Yeah, OK.....I know that it was done in wartime to give a bit extra daylight.....there was Summertime and Double Summertime......but is it really necessary to do this 'clocks' thing twice every year.

My poor body clock will take at least a week to get used to the change......and my cats got me up at 5:30 this morning.....I know it was 6:30 really.....but because the clock said 5:30 I felt aggrieved.
I wanted my dinner at 11:30......because it was, according to my stomach......12:30.......I want to go to bed at 9:30.....because that is bed time to me.

Is there anyone else out there feeling disoriented because of the reversion to GMT....?

I remember the experiment in the 70s, when my 2 older children were quite young, when we didn't put the clocks back for the Winter. We lived in North Yorkshire at the time and, yes, it was dark when the kids went to school but it was light when they came home. I thought it was brilliant but, apparently, farmers in Scotland didn't like it - as if the cows cared!

Yes, Cashy.....it was to help the agricultural workers to make the most of the daylight hours. I have a feeling they talked about abolishing it sometime in the seventies........but the folks in the very north of Scotland, the farmers and the building workers kicked up a fuss...so we are still saddled with the blooming practice.

Yes, Westender.....I thought it was the seventies.....I wish they had left it as it was.......I am sure it is safer for the children coming home in daylight.....although In Scotland, they would be going to school in the dark.

Re: Roll on March.

Can anyone remember getting given those stinky bright reflective day glow Orange Waistcoats? We got them about 1969 or 70 so we wouldn’t get run over on the way to school in the morning. They stunk to high heaven and had that horrible “make you cringe” type surface.

I am feeling disorientated too. Me and Sparks have seen the clocks go back twice this year. We were in NZ at the end of March when their clocks went back, but at least it gave us an extra hours holiday. Now they have gone back on us again. No wonder I'm peeved....
