Rose coloured spectacles.

In the LET tonight was a small paragraph about PB castigating David Myles for 'talking down' Accrington. It appears that David Myles was questioning the work being done on Broadway. David Myles saw it as long overdue upkeep and maintenance, whereas PB saw it as improvements to the town.

PB thinks that the work currently being done is of a high standard and is pleasing to look at.....is this man having a laugh? Does he wear glasses?
If he does...can someone tip me off who his optician is, just so that I don't visit him for my next prescription. Is PB going to fund the rose coloured specs for all of us in the borough?

If 'talking up' Accrington would get rid of that hideous meandering path of tarmac I would start talking now and not stop until it was all gone!

Re: Rose coloured spectacles.

I was up there late yesterday evening, it was dark and raining, pools had formed were the levels allowed. What was still visible were all the crewing gum, fag ends and general rubbish that people had just tossed aside. This isn’t just the kids are the local thugs. I saw adults; male and female, white and black just dump bags and wrappers as they scurried around trying to avoid the deluge. This is a problem of equal proportions for the council and the people of Accrington to face up to and resolve. It will take everyone to play a part……

PB is not talking Accrington up by attacking others for the council’s actions or in actions. The town is suffering in a malaise of indifference and finger pointing. Get off you’re a** PB, get your colleagues off there’s and get onto the streets and talk to the people, find out what’s in their minds and find out why they think you’re a useless Pratt………..work together for once and make this town something to be proud of.

Re: Rose coloured spectacles.

Didn't I read in the paper (not sure whether it was LET today or Accy Obs yesterday) that HBC has applied for an extra £150k for town centre improvements. It didn't say where this £150k was coming from or what exactly it was being spent on - perhaps someone could enlighten us!

PB is looking for his statue to go up in the middle of Broadway, a small statue mind.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again an open air museum or a diorama of key events of Accrington history would sit well in the centre of Broadway. Tastefully done in brick and bronze with some sympathetic planting of trees and floral tributes to the past would not only make Accrington an heritage centre but restore some of its pride.

I shall give a full critique of the design of Broadway for Peter Britcliffe to read here, when it is eventually finished.

I'll give you a clue, it's not looking to rosey from here.

Me thinks PB is suffering from withdrawal symptoms from packing in smoking. Bet he was having a good lungful around someones bonfire on Sat night to make up. Still won't restore his sanity though!!!
