Re: royal birth.......

Well said willow..........must admit I am not a royalist but I do think they have a place in our country, and the Queen is the one who does the best job of all........no one can say that she doesn't fly the flag ( Union Jack ) that is.

Yes it's a far more lavish lifestyle than any of us on here are ever likely to have but I wouldn't want to swap. The Civil List is nowhere near as long as it used to be, and I agree with that. There comes a point where some lesser royals need to earn their keep because they are far less significant than those closest to the throne. I think it would be a sad day indeed if we ever became a republic.
Well said Willow....I love the Queen and would hate a president,,,but i am worried about the next Monarch,Lets hope we are prooved wrong

The Monarchy Today > Royal finances > Financial arrangements of other members of the Royal Family

The Queen and Prince Philip are the only ones who get an allowance from the civil list. The others that do get an allowance are repaid by the queen.

She certainly is. So what's the point of keeping her and Phil the Greek in unbridled luxury in Buckingham Palace? Stick the pair of them in a home for the bewildered and open Buckingham Palace to the public full time and make some money out of the place.

Thanks for that Shillelagh.

It's also worth pointing out the the Royal Family employ people to work for them so those who want to scrap the royals would also be scrapping a lot of jobs.

i dont understand! the queen pays for others out of her allowance? does this not mean that they are all being paid for by the tax payers?
