Re: Royal Wedding
It X Factor off the front page which is good. But moving page 3 is bad. All I can see is all the police bills and a rise in crime. Security will be tighter than any corset or chastity belt.
Though there was some mumbles of an extra holiday for it which I will believe when I see it.

Re: Royal Wedding...
Oh Dear.....looks like we now have two threads with the same title. Anyway - this one's the lad's thread, for anyone who is somewhat cynical about the timing of the announcement, the cost of the event, the wider implications and whether or not it's going to make any difference to anyone in Accy.
The other thread is the girlie thread - so if you want to talk about wedding dresses, street parties with trifle and wearing daft hats on the day - stick to the other one - and don't waste out time coming on here with your silly little nonsense.

Re: Royal Wedding...
So, any indication as to whether it's going to be a public holiday?...and will it be on a Friday like Chas and Di's do? Could be ideal for a weekend bender!

Re: Royal Wedding...
Heard nowt yet down here...although there I was listening to a few journo's earlier who were speculating that the bash would be held in St Georges, Windsor under special license; cut out the security and all the rest of the costs and flog the TV rights for lots of wonga.
The other point they raised was on the PM's/Royal Perogative; they found Cameron's bare-faced cheek in standing outside No 10, saying he knew nowt about the announcement hillarious; as PM, HM the Queen would have been constitutionally obliged to inform him of the engagement, probably as long as two or three weeks ago. Pizz easy for him, then, to release the news on the G'Mo payments on the morning of the event.

As soon as you mentioned the wedding dress rindy disappeared onto the other thread.

Got to admit, it worked spectacularly well for him. The story broke, the first rumblings of discontent were growing, then suddenly...Wills'n'Kate mania hit and the whole thing was totally buried. In normal circumstances, we'd probably be on the sixth page of a "How dare they pay compensation to these people?" thread, but instead we're discussing weddings (in a manly, cynical way of course ). Meanwhile the news spotlight has moved on to the potential collapse of the Irish economy and the boy David's got off, scot-free!

Yeah...that's another Six Billion we are potentially liable for, thanks to this EU nonsense...about a hundred quid for every man, woman & child in this country. What's Graham have to say about this? I notice he was lurking around earlier on here.

And so every man, women and child in this country that will already see thier standard of living drop because of this government cuts, will now be told we can afford to give a foreign country 7bn!

Re: Royal Wedding...
Yeah, Mancie - another country which 3 years ago had a GDP per capita about 25% higher than here in the UK.

Ireland - Let's hope they don't win the Eurovision song contest next year. Having to host it again will be more devastating than the Potato Famine.
Compensation - It is disgusting. It was sold as a bargain, speculating it would have cost the country about £500 million pounds in legal costs, if their claims resulted in a court case.
Wedding - Silk charmeuse satin in Isabelline white.

Just like the family of party planners are being merged with that German family.
Very fitting.
