Re: Royal Wedding - The poll.
I voted no, but not for the obvious reasons, the fact is that this wedding is going to cost the country a fortune, and in no small way will damage the economy and many businesses/industries, aside from the 'bank holiday', many people (and probably most of them paid 'work or play') will take an extra 3 days of their statutory holidays before the wedding, coupled with the other bank holidays in the period means a lot of holidays in a short time, which in essence means they will have 11 consecutive paid days off work, this will hurt a lot of small businesses again!!

True, but this is about having a party, and sod trying to run a business.
Well unless you're the Queen. Who has decreed her staff will be working on the Bank Holiday on the 29th.

Plus I'm told she's not that dependent from what they take in the gift shops.
Unlike many other businesses, who will struggle to cope with losing trade/productivity, and forking out for another days paid holiday.

Re: Royal Wedding - The poll.
How much are they spending on the wedding? Ive heard that pubs are getting flags and stuff paid for by the council, just before the elections. If is a few 100 quid, fair shout. It more, surely that could be spent better@

This is the budget.

Enjoy.

Re: Royal Wedding - The poll.
£15 grand!!! What the f? Surely the money could be better spent? That's ourtragous, never thought it was so much. If people want street parties, great let them make there own sarnies. How does that budget break down. Please tell me my council tax isnt paying officers to arrange celebrations.

Re: Royal Wedding - The poll.
£15,000 pounds. You could keep public toilets open for 18 months on that !!

As for our council spending £15k, well you could run peel st toilets for a year and a half on that and I know which we would prefer the pennies being spent on.

Re: Royal Wedding - The poll.
Why isnt this reported in the local papers? I guess this explains why I dont buy them, theres never anything interesting. BECAUSE THEY IGNORE IT. Does any of the cabinet action fund go to free lunches with journalists, I wonder.....
Hyndburn has a bad political culture. People who work for the council tell me GJones was rude (almost bullying))), so even tho I support labour, I worry about him.
Allegedly.
