School meals -

I do not wish to give the impression that I hold Jamie Oliver in anything other than direst contempt but, I have to admit that his recent campaign has illuminated an interesting comparison.

We are told that our local Education Authorities spend, on average, 37pence per pupil to provide school meals. It may interest some of you to note that our Lords and Masters in Scaitcliffe House, when out and about on Council business, allow themselves, at your expense, £23.00 per head, per day for meals.

so 1 councillor equates to approx 62 pupils-sounds about right to me.
