Seems Americas favourite Sheriff (Joe Arpaio) from Arizona has found a new cost cutting/energy saving system .......Prisioners in his jails who want to watch television are now required to generate the electricity by pedal power , stationary bikes are hooked up to generators to power the TV sets , 1 hour pedaling gets you 1 hour TV

The Man is a Legend, if our spineless Politicians were only as determined & decisive as this Fella, Election & re-election would be a forgone conclusion, Hell the people would want them knighted !! Not Kicked out !!

In 1992 Arpaio successfully campaigned to become the Sheriff of Maricopa County. Since then he has been reelected to an unprecedented five 4-year terms. During his tenure as Sheriff of Maricopa County, Arpaio has consistently earned extraordinarily high public approval ratings.

Re-elected 5X each for 4Years (20 Years no sweat & the people want to keep him there). Says it all really.

A study by the Grant Sawyer Center for Justice Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno of recidivism rates across the United States showed that Arizona has the nation's lowest rate of recidivism, at only 24.5 percent, while states with higher rates were California (53.4 percent), Alaska (66 percent), and Utah (64 percent).

One Nevada district attorney said the states with higher recidivism rates "have pleasant prisons".[39]

Reckon many people would like to see this sort of thing in the UK...

...which is why you will not see Accyweb politicos anywhere near this thread!

Sheriff Joe is a wimp. Why give these scum bags TV in the first place? Get 'em breaking rocks then when they're knackered feed 'em with bread and water and if they complain about that then lock them in solitary with no food or 'owt until they beg for mercy. And when they get out, give them a good kicking, just to show who's boss.
