Re: Show me yours.
I've been trying to put a link on from Cologne Cathedral, one of the nicest cathedrals I've ever visited, but the links don't seem to be working

Re: Show me yours.
Ramsbottom.Net Where I spent 27 years of my life, actually was a place called Strongstry in Stubbins, about a mile and a half from Rammy town centre.
Roy's information site on Huncoat, History, Walking and Weather etc. As Huncoat doesnt have its own website, this is the nearest I can find, lived in Huncoat for the last 2 years.

Re: Show me yours.
That Huncoat website belongs to Roy Chetham.
He retired from DSS not long after me.
He always was an avid hill walker and weather recorder, but the site doesn't mention his train spotting.
That site mentions the old house which my son now owns, built in 1880 and later renamed -interesting info.

There is a 14th century castle in mint condition just outside the village.
Susy was the founder of our main home-grown breeding line. She died aged 17 (very old for a modern dairy cow) 3 yrs ago and is buried in front of the new barn where we milk 400 holsteins.
Young bull Garinda is safe in my hands -i only ever use sharp instruments on request...
Am attaching a few pics of our 3-month old heifer Garinda -she is so like her name-sake. Rear view included for you to verify that it is a "she" -she is a very pretty little cow....

You didn't tell me I had a namesake over there in Cremona! I shall have to come and pay my respects.

Where I lived in London, for nearly twenty years.
Admittedly I was a pioneer, and lived in more affordable Tooting.
Though once I was the first person on my street to have a chi-chi window box, others soon followed me down the Northern Line to Tootin'.

Aww.
Sweet.
Like her namesake.
Don't ever swap her for a bag of magic beans.
She's worth more than that.

Where's the name come from?
Why verde?
Is it because it's in lush, verdant meadow land?
The castle looks red to me.

The castle is built in hand-made red bricks as is the old part of our farm which dates back to 1760.
The green refers to the past as the whole area was full of water meadows so it was very green. there are old ice safes on the farm as they used to conserve it from the fields in winter..
120 people used to live and work on the farm - milking 60 cows -we now milk 400 (total of 1100 animals) and only 8 people work full time...

Ahh, Tooting, one stop down the Northern line from Balham where I lived in the seventies. Remember it well...
