Silly Sausages

Just read in the Paper that the banger is back in the UK. According to the latest reports from Britain the humble sausage is back. sales are expected to hit Stg. 530 million, by the end of 2005. Up 23 per cent on 2001. that means Britons will consume 189,000 tonnes of sausages this year. Well I bet you all really wanted to know that, or did you want a story on terrorist, bombings, John Lennon, etc, etc.

Re: Silly Sausages

The best sauasges ever were from Hodgesons butchers in Keswick. My Mum had been going there for nearly 40 years.(I would go up twice a year and bring back 30lbs of them which would be distributed about friends and family). Unfortunately they went and emigrated to Oz

Found another butcher that is close to them(The game dealer on the mini roundabout in Bowness) only the meat isn't as coarsely minced.

Re: Silly Sausages

Give me a traditional banger from a good butchers anyday. Some of the ones at supermarkets are completely uninspiring and tastless with nothing but chemicals in them.

Re: Silly Sausages

I find most sausages are too fine a mince, I like it coarse. It should feel like you are eating a piece of meat, not some puree'd mush. Of course you need to cook them VERY slowly so that all the juices caramelise on the bottom of the pan and stick to your teeth when you eat it.

Anyone got a sausage machine going?
