Sky viewing probs anyone?!!?!?
Well im living in the dark ages quite literally life without tv n with 2 lil monsters off for half term couldnt of come at a better time - not! Has anyone else had problems with their sky signal over the past week???? a friend of mine a town or 2 away has had the same prob as me. I rang sky today whom claim its not their fault but my system which was working fine last nite n as ive had my box longer than 12mnths i should of taken out insurance yeh right when they are giving boxes away left right n center n that a call out charge of £65 for any tech problems incl box sorted. I told em to poliety f-off n to cancel my subscription as soon as they realised i was serious about it they have now decided to waiver the charge n send someone up thurs earliest n its unusal of them to be appeasing. So ok settled for that only prob is that the phono gamestation we had tuned in has wiped the other channel settings on the tv ....n can i find the remote for the tv......nope! Mr Nobody has swiped it as always when i need owt........ so theres no tv n thurs is a long wait for 2 impatient kids n me whom cant catch up on soapland n just hope it is fixed for sundays cup match or there will be hell to pay!!!

Re: Sky viewing probs anyone?!!?!?
wasnt sky exposed for ripping people off regarding a common fault with their boxes
their boxes needed a simple update which if you were under the warranty they fixed for free but if you were out of warranty they said they had to send an engineer out and charged you £65
it was proven by a wesite called the enqierer as they rang up as a customer under warranty from one place and the update was sent down the phone line and they rang up from a place not under warranty and were told they had to send an engineer out and were charged for somthing they could do over the phone lines
the webpage is no longer there as it is old news but i remember it because they tried pulling that stunt on my m8 who had just read about it on the net

Re: Sky viewing probs anyone?!!?!?
We have 2 kids as well, and they watch a maximum of 1 hour of tv per day, and that is while they are eating their breakfast.
They would watch more, given the opportunity, but I don't think they are missing out by not watching it - they do other things, like painting, playdoh, drawing, and other craft things, plus they have toys to play with.
I would much rather have my kids running round and plenty of noise than stuck in front of the telly all day.
Now, where's that hard hat...

Re: Sky viewing probs anyone?!!?!?
if i paid sky subscription prices i would make sure i got my moneys worth and watch more than 1 hr a day lol
my kids do watch more than 1 hr but still play out and enjoy other activities as well
i dont think theres a correct ammount of tv or an incorrect amount of tv kids should watch i would be more concerned about the content and quality of what they watched but in a lot of cases i would rather see kids watching tv 24 hours a day rather than have them on the streets causing damage lol

Re: Sky viewing probs anyone?!!?!?
Yeh thats what me n my mate think to Chav about this being a bit dodgey with their boxes, tho sjy do have the major monopoly over digital viewing as cable cant compete as many areas dont have cable access me being one

Re: Sky viewing probs anyone?!!?!?
sory for getting off topic but wwe was mentioned and i agree it is on very dodgy ground as to been suitable for children
recent story lines include..
killing of a unborn baby
some islamic wrestler stiring up racial hatred preeching the same stuff bin laden would to his followers
people been deliberatly run over by cars making it seem ok to deliberatly hit someone with a car as they will be walkin around the next day with a bandage on their arm ready to fight
i have been a wwf fan for years and any fan should realy realise that it has become pathetic in its efforts to keep people intersted in its story lines
bring back the days of stonecold and hulk hogan when it was grudge matches and not matches like you killed my baby
hell they even had a match between 2 female wrestlers because one woman wrestler slept with another woman wrestlers father and killed him with sex and to make things worse they had him in his coffin and the boddy was tipped out of teh coffin when tthey started fighting over who he loved more
come on wwf its meant for kids for gods sake and yes i know RAW is more for adult viewing and SMACKDOWN is more for kids but the dead father one was on smakdown easily watched saturday morings by children

Re: Sky viewing probs anyone?!!?!?
do you guys have the boxes that let yu record tv programs on them to watch later
these boxes have a software fault on them that when so much time is recorded they crash
if under warrenty they fix by sending a software update to you box through the phone line but if out of warrents they send an engineer and charge you although if you ring up and make them aware that you know about this and have read about it on the internet from what i read before they will send you the fix free
i am running of memory here but thats the jist of it

Re: Sky viewing probs anyone?!!?!?
here you go i did a bit of research fro you
Exclusive British Sky Broadcasting has denied accusations that the company tried to profit from a known software fault in its digital video recorders, after customers were charged £65 for engineers to visit their homes.
A recurring fault in the Sky+ system software causes recordings to fail for no apparent reason. The bug eats up space on the digibox's hard disk and, even after the failed recording has been deleted, the disk space is lost.
Although the problem has dragged on for two years, coming and going through various software updates, recent complaints from Sky+ customers have revealed an interesting development:
Customers whose digiboxes are still under warranty are told by Sky that the fault is known about and will be fixed with an automatic software update, downloaded by satellite. But customers whose digiboxes are out of warranty are told that it is a hardware fault and will require an engineer visit. This incurs a £65 call-out charge.

Re: Sky viewing probs anyone?!!?!?
I work at a school n playground can be a nitemare as lil boys mimic wrestlers n rangers n to those kids whom arn't familiar it can be quite frightening n think that these boys are gonna really hurt them, plus our 1st aid can be over run with clothes linning n strangle holds in fact had an assembly based on the dangers of being rough in any way round the neck area n when kids are questioned WWE n Rangers are the culprits. No wonder the world is a violent society these days, and also Ps2 games.
