Slip, Trip, Fall? Then claim!
It was reported in the Telegraph that claims for injury on the streets of Blackburn with Darwen were £1.39 million in 2000/2001, and Lancashire County Council will have handed out £6.4 million by the end of this financial year. Sounds like a better payout rate than the National Lottery!
How much has HBC handed out I wonder?

Re: Slip, Trip, Fall? Then claim!
I wonder if there's a correlation with all the "No win, no fee!" adverts you see these days.
I hate to say it but it may be a good thing in at least one respect; councils will be more determined to make the streets as safe as possible for people.. But I mean, really, there's no need for people to put claims in on the whole, they're all jumping on the band wagon though.
I'm sure we've all fallen over at some point.

Based on the pavements around the Townhall/Market place and Broadway I'm surprised that HBC aren't 100million in debt.

Re: Slip, Trip, Fall? Then claim!
I can't stand these so-called legal companies. They are nothing but vultures. It's this kind of culture that puts the price of insurances up for everyone. Everybody slips or falls at sometime in their lives, I have had several falls, but my attitude is that I should stop being so bloody gormless and look where I'm going.

I stood on a wobbly flagstone in Peel Street and mucky rainwater squirted up my leg. Can I claim for that?

You poor soul Willow! That must have been a traumatic experience!

Re: Slip, Trip, Fall? Then claim!
I think injury claims are fine the problem with this country b4 it got away with shoddy unsafe environments specially working ones. I do think falling off a swing or grazing yer knee on an uneven slab is going a bit far but if it weren't for the threat of being sued then Peel st's paving would be probably worse....tho i dont think its safe enough for the elderly.....anyone want to make a claim on Peel St ?!?! LOL

Re: Slip, Trip, Fall? Then claim!
In the vast majority of these claim cases, it's down to the honesty and integrity of the individual as to whether they file a compensation claim; in most instances a complete lack of these aforementioned attributes.
