This is a FREE service to the people of Lancashire.

Already did last year they fitted 2 ten year ones one at the top and one at the bottom of the stairs and did a good job too

Thanks for the info. I will most certainly pass it on. I have one at the bottom of my stairs just outside the kitchen. I fitted it myself several years ago and although I do change the battery annually, it has come in useful. I have had several small culinary accidents. I'm surprised that my cooker still works..........My neighbours are used to seeing burning grill pans and other pans hurling down the garden path (luckily the cooker is next to the back door and I have sturdy oven gloves ). Amazingly, I have never had to call the fire brigade............... All I can say is that I'm glad I don't have a chip pan.

I'm so bad a cooking that I have started warming stuff up in the microwave rather than the cooker, as I'm fed up of buying pans....

On the point of detectors how many of you with gas central heating have carbon Monoxide alarms?

I had two 10yr ones fitted by the local fire service just before xmas & i already had 1 battery one installed that was fine, so we have 3 smoke detectors here, had a hazard check & had a panic cos of all xmas lights but releived to know that my plug extentions were safe & good ones , also they had a a word to my brats about fire safety & what to do in a house fire while they was here too.

we had a new bathrom fitted last week... i was sick of hearing the smoke alarm going off when they were fixing the pipes,, BUT AT LEAST I KNOW, in an emergancy it could save our lives...

The good thing about the 10yr alarms the fire service fiited is that it doesn't go off near the bathroom, its not steam effected but they do double beep now & again to reset.

I have 3 smoke detectors in my hallway ! One i fitted myself , one fitted by the firebrigade and one that is wired up next to my bed that vibrates my bed and has a strobe light if it goes off during the night. This is from social services as i am hearing impaired.

With it only being a tiny flat every night when i am making my tea it sounds like a fire house here. Debbie upstairs has learnt to ignore my alarms now and knows only to evacuate if i shout "run" ! lol

I have signed up so I'll let you know what they say.

We have two alarms so far, one at the bottom of the stairs and one at the top - they are tested frequently when we're cooking because the stairs are in the kitchen.

a good way of finding out if your batteries are working,, is to make toast or put sausages under the grill....

We have 1 at the bottom of the stairs, 1 at the top and 1 in each of the 2 kids bedrooms, but for some reason none in our bedroom.

I will withhold comment Neil. I have 1 upstairs 1 downstairs mains powered with battery backup.
