I cant stop smiling.
Last nite my son was chosen to run for his school at Wilsons Playing Fields. We got their and it was awful weather, and so I thought they would cancel but no they assessed the field and it was ok.
The schools who took part were from the whole of Hyndburn and Ribble valley and their was two children from years 6 and 7 girls and boys.
The girls ran their race first once round the course and I felt so sorry for them they were slipping and falling all over as it was so muddy and alot of the girls were that bad and caked in mud you couldnt tell who or what school they were running for anyway our school did ok.
Then it was the boys turn and they decided that they were to run the course twice and deep inside I thought he would do ok and kept telling him " tie your trainers tight, " " keep to the front get a good start".
Anyway the whistle went and off they went Geordie had a really good start his mate next to him slipped straight away. I couldnt stop shouting for him and I must have been the loudest parent there. ha.
He went round the first time and he was brilliant he completely focused and wasnt to fast but had a brilliant pace. I was shouting my head off and running round the pitch my self egging him on like some demented headless chicken ha anyway out off approx 90 children he came first in his school and 25th overall and you just wont believe how proud I am of him.
This time last year as some of you know he had been very ill and we nearly lost him and he was learning how to walk again.
A year on he as fought it so well and he comes 25th in a cross country race he is my rock and always will be.
