So, what's going on?

Walking home tonight, reflected off the clouds is a green laser beam?
Who is so stupid to have bought such a thing just to annoy air traffic?

Or,

Have I missed yet anothet advert for another money wasting scheme from somewhere?

Oeer, could I have seen signals from little green men 'phoning home?

Perhaps they were trying to beam you up, and return you to your own planet.

Don't walk so fast next time.

Give 'em a chance to get you.

Re: So, what's going on?

I once bought a little one to try to use for aiming a pistol at targets. It didn't work-the pistol had a hell of a kick and the laser fell off every time I pulled the trigger.
My point- it was only small but could reach an astonishing distance, I would imagine it could be quite a problem if a Police helicopter pilot got the beam from one in his eyes.
Are they legal?

Well spotted, cmon-officially switched on tomorrow for Preston Guild. Perhaps they were testing it- is that the direction it came from, Less?

Lovely until you read the usual blurb:
With the projection, the artist intends to encompass geographical and social diversity in its reach and symbolise hope.

Why not just say it'll be a lot of pretty colours instead of this meaningless drivel?

It is just pretentious crap Sue.....makes the artist feel important...bigs them up and glorifies something which might be ....well, a bit ordinary.
Nature does this best at absolutely zero cost.

They have to say things like that otherwise they won't get any money from the powers that be.

Yes....sad, isn't it? How did they celebrate these events in days gone by?....Not with such pretentious expensive light shows....they would probably have had a parade, a brass band, the local folk would have put on their Sunday best and taken to the streets.....something that resonates with the character of this fine old town(or City, as it is now).

'Global Rainbow, a £50,000 artwork created by American artist Yvette Mattern.'

Olympic laser show lights up St Mary's Lighthouse - Chronicle News - News - ChronicleLive

I saw a stunning rainbow on Saturday, on the moors between Darwen and Bolton.

I think Mother Nature managed to cobble that fantastic light display together for nowt.
