Apologies; I didn't think you were serious and I'm sorry if it appeared that way. CCTV had in all seriousness come up in the council discussions.
Sometimes life is to serious and I think you have to have a laugh and joke about things. The thing is you know it is a bad idea but it nearly did happen.

Re: Solution for Outside The Town Hall.
If they were introduced they might mean new businesses would close, as people would come out of the amusement arcades to gamble on when the next vehicle will get hit.

On the other hand it could be a new tourist attraction for Accy - come and see the idiot trap.

Mind you, the number of people who would run into them and the number of buses it would hold up, as there are not exactly many alternative routes out of the bus station for them, could cause a bit of a log jam in Peel Street.

The Council recently received a surprise £2.7m from the Exchequer to spend in Hyndburn (March). A list of items was drawn up and the money spent. The Town Hall wasn't on it.

What was on the list, as to how it was spent?

Roughly at a guess ???
£1m on private sector housing
£250,000 on Keep Warm, Keep Safe (£250 grant to pensioners)
£250,000 on CCTV
£100,000 on a Climbing Wall at HSC
£50,000 re roof Gt Har comm centre.
£20,000 Town Hall lift
?????? need to check...
You can always ask the Council (on any matter) under a FOI an they must give the exact answer within 21 days.

Re: Solution for Outside The Town Hall.
Thanks...as long as the rest wasn't spent on even more traffic calming measures, outside a certain councillor's house in New Lane Ossy.

Just thought of another alternative, how about perm traffic lights? I can't imagine them being that expensive..
Buses would be allowed through, but having lights there means that if a car goes through they are actualy breaking the law, as opposed to now where I assume it is a grey area (or they are simply not breaking it at all) because the police seem to do nothing when people go through...

Lights are retospective and bureaucractic. There will always be chancers. Raised bollards stops chancers, it's also not a back door revenue raiser, and it reduces bureaucracy chasing wrong do'ers.

Re: Solution for Outside The Town Hall.
This is very true.. normal lights people wouldnt dare run red, but I suppose there it might not change the situation.
So what can we do to get something done, other than wait a year and vote?
