Space Station

I have been told that on 24th December the Space Station will be visible in Northern England just before 1800 hrs providing the sky is clear.
I am trying to confirm the details but no luck so far.
It may be something special for all of us but especially for young children who are anxiously waiting for Father Christmas.

Re: Space Station

This gives the possible sightings - had to use Blackpool as the view point.

Re: Space Station

You can register with the Space station site and give your location. You will then get an email whenever it is possible to see the station.

The last few times I looked it was visible for about four minutes. Travelling NW to S and at an angle of 60 degrees elevation.
I've tried, unsuccessfully, to get a photo but really Al you see is a bright light.

Space Station

Skyview is a free app for iphone (probably available for android as well) that shows the location of stuff like that, meteor showers, planets, constellations, space station & Hubble telescope.

Re: Space Station

It can be seen quite often here, but all it is is a "brighter, bigger, star" than the others. Don't know if this is any good to you Barrie?

Hey DinG, I just wanted to maybe give some youngsters a thrill on Christmas Eve - thought there might just be a few parents who enjoy giving their kids something different - mine saw where "Puff the Magic Dragon" lived, the Treacle Mines at Sabden, the Custard Wells and the Rhubarb Mines. Fun days and they can still laugh about them.

Re: Space Station

I am confused - the site says the ISS travels West but it is going East on the tracker.

Good news - it will be within ranges at 1740 tonight.
Bad news - it is cloudy

Just popped outside to see it, beautiful!
Is there ice in the air causing it? The air looks very clear.

Re: Space Station

Is that Jupiter to the left of the moon, quite a lot of cloud at the moment, if it clears I`ll try for a better pic.
