sport relief
Well after not running since i was in primary school over 30yrs ago, yesterday my kids nagged and nagged and nagged me to do this run a mile thing on the beach today .having cleared a bottle of wine last night and not getting to bed till 2am me in my tipsy way agreed and left them a note to get me up at 8am, AND THEY DID..SO OFF WE ALL GO TO REGISTER .. Well I did it, must admit, though i walked some of the way as did many of them i really enjoyed it. and was very impressed to see a young boy with callipers walked all the way with his grandparents and i felt a bit ashamed about the fuss i made when my kids suggested it. Has anyone else been reluctant to take part in something only to find they really enjoy it when they do?

Re: sport relief
There is nothing like kids to get you motivated. My kids are always nagging me to go on bike rides and when we do go I really enjoy it.

Re: sport relief
Extemely reluctant to get up every morning for work Cherokee, however, when I get there not too bad really.
Well done on your run.
Last time I didn't want to do something was when my son was running in the 10km run in Manchester in May. (he volunteered after drunken night out). Thought ought to go and support ... was raining the whole time and my feet were squelching as I walked around and didn't even see son (saw Gayles husband twice) 'cept in pub after of course. He did surprisingly well i.e. 4,021 out of 25,000. Was so pleased after that I made the effort, the atmosphere was magic and such good fun.... so you don't need to be running, go and watch, is a good day out.

Re: sport relief
By chance, I happened to glimpse some of this nonsense on the BBC on saturday evening. Other than the title and other than the fact it was fronted by the usual bunch of 'Celebrities', I had no idea what it was supposed to be about. I should have known better, of course; five minutes into the programme up popped the usual image of 'starving african babies' followed by the usual cry from the usual culprits of "give us your money".
Any fool can go for a jog round the park; I have even been known to do it myself. But I must admit, it takes a complete and utter idiot to partake in the same exercise purely on the basis that he or she wishes to line the pockets of overpaid non-entities in the BBC, the aid industry or some African tin-pot dictator.
I had another pint and switched over to another channel.

Re: sport relief
i can honestly say tealeaf Thank god my life is not in your hands.Idid that run because my kids wanted to do their bit for these countries and ours. as half of the donations was to stay in our own, after all they are the next generation and if everyone took your opinion on board well the world would be a sorry sorry state , so as for being a complete and utter idiot i suggest the mirror must be turned back on yourself . you dont know me nor do you know the reasons i encourage my children to take part in such activities ..all i can say is im glad they are the future and not you
