Re: Stink Around Accy?
Could it be anything like this ? Know not quite the same thing, but adverse weather conditions can bring out certain smells, etc :-

Re: Stink Around Accy?
Hmmm, just today one of my staff who had been out to collect the prescriptions said that it " stank" all the way along Blackburn Rd, so much so she ended up covering her nose. She described the smell as resembling dog poo.

Re: Stink Around Accy?
I think it's the tip.
There have been letters in the Observer saying that the honk can be smelt all over Accy recently.

Re: Stink Around Accy?
Close to where i live , the local farmers have a blue / white powdery substance they use as a fertilizer . They just dump wagon loads in the fields until they find time to spread it onto the field and then plough it in . But it dont half stink .

Re: Stink Around Accy?
I have googled for legislation on use of fertilisers
Defra, UK - Farming - Environmental management - Land Management - Fertilisers
extract-Under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, local authorities may consider offensive smells to be a statutory nuisance.
Fertiliser or manure must not usually be applied within two metres of the centre of a hedgerow or watercourse. This rule also applies to all land within one metre of the top of the bank of a watercourse.
If it stinks like bad eggs that will be the sulphur
The most commonly used fertiliser nutrients are nitrogen, phosphate, potash, sulphur and magnesium with lime also widely used to correct soil acidity.

Used to make stink bombs when I was a kid, dolly blue & vinegar.
Makes a gas called Hydrogen Sulphide, smelt worse than rotten eggs.

I don't think you were around when I was a kid.
Your not claiming to be that old are you.
I used to make other bombs as well
Old medicine bottle 1/2 full of water, drop a lump of cardide in it, bang the cork in hard, and throw it as far as you can, Boom.

May your right but I don't think the yobs of today would know where to access carbide. None of the stuff we could get in the old days is now available. Try buying Saltpetre, Sulpher, Sodium Nitrate, Sulphuric Acid or Nitric Acid.
Used to make loads of fireworks using them, well over 60 years ago, but no one is allowed to sell them these days.
