Stolen Wheelie bin - replacement not available!
Today was wheelie bin day. I had to go out this morning. When I got back I went out to bring in the bin and it had been nicked. Phoned the council. They do not have any replacement bins available for at least 6 weeks! They will send me a chitty to fill in to request one.
What happens to my rubbish in the meanwhile I ask - put it in black bins bags they say. Oh great, a fortnight's worth of loose bins bags in the back yard to attract all manner of vermin. Nice rat bait that. Can you imagine them outside on bin day too getting ripped open and the bin men refusing to take them?
They know darned well that wheelie bins get nicked. I know for a fact of one house where they blatantly put out their own and another one with a number painted on it which is nothing remotely like theirs and the bin men merrily empty both. Why don't they have a supply of spares for just such eventualities? It's rare they say. Oh no it flippin well isn't.

Re: Stolen Wheelie bin - replacement not available!
It seems to be happening quite often, why do people need to steal them?? I know I struggle with the ammount of rubbish I put out but I do recycle what I can so it manage. I know there are a few people with 2 wheelie bins so would guess that they have aquired there 2nd ones in the same way. Take it you have no idea where it has gone?? Want me to come and look in a few yards / gardens to see if I can spot it for you?

Re: Stolen Wheelie bin - replacement not available!
They told me a 3 week wait earlier in the year. I filled the form in and so forth. It actually took 16 weeks (and several phone calls) for the new wheelie bin to arrive. You may be waiting some time Willow.

SIXTEEN weeks! And they tried to fob me off on the phone saying no-one has ever had to wait before. I told them.... "I'm a member of AccyWeb. I KNOW they have!"

Hahahaha!!!
They are pathetic, and the waffle they come out with!! I'd be ashamed if I had to act so thick.
We had to ring up today. We fell behind while on our hols, so for the past few weeks, we have been behind with the refuse, so we have had at least 2 bags that won't fit in the bin, then when they empty it, them 2 bags go in the wheelie bin.... then, the next time, we have 2 loose bags again So today we hears the bin men and Ginger went out and said " Don't suppose we can just throw these 2 bags in can we?? They won't fit in the wheelie bin and we are 2 bags behind every weeks, that have to be left in the garden and they could attract rats " BLANK LOOK..... "No sorry, not allowed...." and off they went Rang up about it and told them about the holiday situation and the bags that were left out every weeks!! " sorry, we can't do anything about it "....... Fluff off then you dim wits.
Anyway.... I actually rang up for another recycling box cos mine was nicked, she said there is a back log, but she would send me a BLUE bag with handles on to replace my box, and she would order me a box... but it could take 3 weeks..... 3 weeks, yeah I was waiting 10 weeks for that box, and had to ring to see where it was!! It came 2 days later.... more like they had forgot

Re: Stolen Wheelie bin - replacement not available!
Last week there were THREE blue bags in our garden. No white one though.
The whole system is a shambles.

Re: Stolen Wheelie bin - replacement not available!
we should all get 1 wheelie bin each which is emptied weekly , no blue bags no silly tubs etc
let convicts sepaerate the recycables at the tip
that way no one will need to steal a wheelie bin as their rubbish will be gotten rid of regularly and quickly enough
the people across from me hav 3 wheelie bins , i bet they arnt all meant to be theirs either

Unfortnatly Willow I don't have a wheelie bin and have to use orange sacks, which are collected every two weeks, there is just know where for us to put these bins, but I did get hem to provide an old type bin so I can keep one bag in it that week its recycling

Re: Stolen Wheelie bin - replacement not available!
I'm in favour of recycling but I do think that Hyndburn's version is all bells and whistles and very little to do with practicality.

Re: Stolen Wheelie bin - replacement not available!
Taken from hyndburns website:
Unfortunately, there are still quite a number of residents leaving black sacks in the back streets. For improvements to be made in the cleanliness of your area, all household waste must be presented within the grey wheeled bin.
Enforcement action will be taken against residents who do not present their waste in the wheeled bin. If you dump sacks in the back street, you can be served a notice under section 46 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 which can lead to fines of up to £1,000 .
http://www.hyndburnbc.gov.uk/site/sc...5&pageNumber=7
So willow if they dont replace it for 16 weeks - are you going to face fines up to £16,000? I know what i would do!!!!

Re: Stolen Wheelie bin - replacement not available!
Rossendale has a green bin for normal household waste, blue bin or a blue box for glass, plastic and tins etc, a brown bin for garden waste, and a either a white sack or a grey bin for paper.
