Stupidity and traffic don't mix

Police have released CCTV footage of a 14-year-old boy being struck by a bus outside a school in southern Scotland.
Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary want to make other pupils aware of the dangers passing traffic can pose.
The boy broke his nose and shoulder in the incident, which police say he was lucky to survive.
He has now made a full recovery.

This lads very lucky to be alive, surprised he got away with just a broken shoulder and nose

Was going to put it in over 18's but it's aimed at school children

Don't open the link if your a bit squeamish

The way the lad jumped over the barrier it was almost like watching a suicide bid. He's a very lucky boy - and a very stupid one.

The lad was very lucky there, just beyond me why they can't use the pelican crossing that was provided

Suppose it's one way to stop a bus. Personally, I prefer to put my arm out.

No Pelican Crossing there Bernie, just a set of Traffic lights but with markings on the road for cyclists.

Maybe there should be a crossing with a main road being outside the school, then again there’s no accounting for gross stupidity.

I thought it was too. Anyway leaping over the barrier is stupid. Looks like he caught his foot in it and went headlong into the bus.

Yes, it is
Bit of a funny one though as it only goes half way across the road, look carefully and you can see the 2 lights that pedestrians see ie red man/green man, and I "think" you can just make out the box with the button you press on the lights on the traffic island

Yeah I can see the cowls covering the red and green men lights. Strange that it only gets you to the middle of the road, there’s no zig-zag markings either. Been some time since I saw a Highway Code, perhaps it’s a new sort of crossing with a different name. Possibly one of those Toucan Crossings.

Strange that it only covers half of the road Seems like jumping over the barrier seems to appeal to a lot of the kids, maybe they will think twice now

Theres a lot like this up and down the country, main reason here I think is because there are two lanes on this side of the road, only one on the other side making crossing a lot safer.
Zig Zags - don't forget this is in Scotland, just because we have them in England doesn't mean they will have them in Scotland

Re: Stupidity and traffic don't mix

There are some other idiots stood in the bike lane as well. If they needed to move they can't because of the railings.
