Groove thinks there is sometimes a kind of vanity that goes with suicide. It is very self-indulgent. It is sometimes viewed as a cool thing, due to Kurt Cobain and people like that. I

For anybody to commit suicide there must be something drastically wrong somewhere.

Groove agrees Jaysay, but it is very common.

suicide is not painless......certainly not for the family members left behind.
If you doubt what I say, I am sure the parents of the 12 year old who hanged himself will confirm this.

And what the @@@@ has the MASH opening song got to do with a man cutting his own throat while on Skype????
Before Groove tells me, yes I am aware of the irony in the mash theme and the dentist in the film.
What ever this is it certainly not painless.

My sister in law commited suicide because she was unable to have the baby she longed for.........and I can tell you that the pain lives on with us forever.
Yes, you put your lives back into some semblance of order....but it isn't the same order.
It took my brother many years to get any kind of life back. He moved out of the Uk to try and escape the memories.

A good friend of mine committed suicide by putting his head on railway lines, Although I hadn't seen him for quite a few years, it really shook me up, and had he asking myself what ever possessed him to do that.

I just couldn't do that to put your head on and have to wait for the train - can't fathom what is in mind of person to do that.

Not really John, sometimes people get so low that they feel there's no other way out of their worries, problems & despair. They feel that they physically & spiritually can't cope any more & that by ending their lives there problems will all be over. It is difficult to comprehend as most of us haven't been at such a low ebb in our lives & until it happens to us (and I really hope it doesn't) we will never be able to understand why some folk take such a severe option.

believe me i've been that low and it's a hard fight to stop yourself! luckily I didn't have the guts to do it and instead chose to do the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life - ASK FOR HELP!

but believe me there are still times when it seems like the only way to end what you are going through and solve the problem!

Ya but there are better ways of doing it than putting your head on a railway line dave, no matter how low you get. I only have to walk into my bedroom open my drug cupboard if I want to end it all. The real victims of suicide are the ones left behind

That is the truest thing anyone ever said. They are the ones who cope with the fallout and are left thinking that maybe, just maybe if they had been a bit more kind, a bit more perceptive/intuitive....then their loved one would still be with them.
In the dark hours of the night they examine everything they did in the run up to this terrible event....they try to see if there was anything they said that would have given any clue to the real feelings of the one who took their own life.

What a selfish statement.

Of course those left behind will have recriminations & regrets that a loved one has been lost.
But, the person that commited suicide has lost everything!
Who knows why they did it?
Who knows their state of mind when they did it?
Who can judge them for the fact that they did it?
Lots of self righteous folk on this thread judging the one that felt compelled to end it all.
The method they used may not have been ideal for the poor sods that witnessed it but hell, give the poor begger a break and now they have done it leave them in peace, (it might just have been your judgemental nagging that drove them to it).
