Why can't everyone have a lid? If lids exist for the boxes then surely they should be issued with the boxes. Our boxes here have lids.

I have noticed that every other town and village in the area has lids, but this part of Accy is a "no lids" area She also warned me not to put the container out with the lid fitted otherwise it will get knicked. With the rainfall we have recently endured, the containers will be full to overflowing with rain water. Maybe that is the next recycling ploy? Save the rain water-Fill a container!

Re: Talking Rubbish

The way United Utilities are going it wouldn't surprise me if that were the next thing on the agenda - "it's too expensive to supply you all with water, so you will have to collect it yourself. Oh, and by the way we will have to put the bills up to pay for removing the mains."

We have lids too. Its the bags that people tend to steal for some reason...

Re: Talking Rubbish

I rang the works dept 2 months ago to get a double bed moved they said itemise all, put it in writing, so i did. I don't know how you feel but the old saying you could go out and leave your front door open has gone. Its not safe to leave your back gate open for up to 14 days because that is what you are expected to do.

I don't like the idea of having to leave the back gate open all that time either and yet if you suggest putting it out in the back street they'll tell you you'll be fined for causing an obstruction.

I am now beginning to wonder if the town has been divided up into no go areas for box lids.

I thought anyone was allowed a lid for their blue box if they requested?
It's very dangerous to have open tins inside the house with small children!

Re: Talking Rubbish

I don't keep my box inside the house. I just don't have any room for it. Now I've got to find somewhere to put a huge great blue bag for the plastic bottles too.
