Re: taxi driver stopped me to ask how to get to burnley!
This thread actually reminded me of something that happened to me back in the early 80s. My mate and myself plus wives and been to a celebration do at the Corporation pub in Burnley, we'd come runners up in a National Poll competition, my mate drove there but we decided before hand that we'd get a taxi home and we'd pick his car up the day after. The taxi arrived about 2am and we set of home, but when it came to paying the diver (who spoke very little English) came out with this ridiculous price, it was something like £15 which was very inflated at that time. Anyway we paid after an argument, the driver asked if I could point him in the right way to get back to Burnley, I told him to turn left at the lights and follow the road ( the lights were near Worsley Park) I watched him take the turn then both me and my mate collapsed with laughter, he was on his way to Blackburn
