Teachers accused of crime are given lifelong anonymity

I am going to do a jaysay and post a link to a story. This is something that has been mentioned on here and it is now going to happen for teachers. Why not all crimes, innocent until proven guilty and all that.

Re: Teachers accused of crime are given lifelong anonymity

There have been cases where children have falsely and malicously accused a teacher.
Teachers have been wary about being regarded as 'unpopular' and have held back from administering discipline because of it.

This measure is an attempt to counteract that - whether it will work remains to be seen.
Media will still report allegations but not name the teacher - so provoking gossip and speculation.

But if they are innocent their names won't have been dragged through the mud unjustly

anyone who gets named for a sex crime gets tehir life effected for life so shouldnt the rule apply to everyone and not jsut teachers or a selct few?

innocent - remain anonymous

guilty - name and shame

Hell as the law stands we cant even name and shame convicted pedophiles on here for example and they actually did the crime and walk amongst us

Many years ago my brother was a woodwork teacher, one of the bigger lads tried to attack him with a chisel, unfortunately for the lad my brother did karate at competition level disarmed him and put him on the floor.
There was an enquiry and the other pupils ganged together and claimed that it was an unprovoked attack by my brother.
Eventually after 3 years my brother was sacked.
When I asked him how he felt about the result he replied that he regretted not being able to prove the truth & also told me that he would have liked the decision to have taken a few years longer. I asked why?
Well he said, while I was suspended I was on full pay and because no decision had been made able to sign up for an agency and had a full time job as a temporary teacher travelling the country, he reckoned they were the most profitable and interesting years of his teaching career.
