Tesco Poll (With Poll this time!)
So theres the new Tesco either being built or in the process of getting permission, im not too sure as I don't keep up with much things when im in Hull.
Do you, with all the implications in mind (Such as it could make the market and shops in town deteriorate even further in my opinion), want them to build another monopoly supermarket right in the heart of our town?
Theres also the factor of choice. If tesco make other shops close down because they have the most "popular" items in a range, then you end up not having choice, you have to have what they sell, which is limited as there is limited shelf space. For example go to Asda and you'll be hard pushed to buy the book you want if its not in the top selling list. Im sure you can think of many examples of such.
Now im not trying to bias the Poll, theres been many counter arguements such as convenience etc and im sure people will post them here.
Personally, I think it will be a disaster to our town. 450 jobs maybe, but how many will we lose in the process.

Re: Tesco Poll (With Poll this time!)
Why isn't there an option to say --'indifferent' /'not bothered either way'?

Re: Tesco Poll (With Poll this time!)
It will be the last nail in the coffin for many town centre retailers, therefore I've voted against.

Re: Tesco Poll (With Poll this time!)
I voted indiferant,, because i dont live there,, but Tesco,s in Cleveleys is nowhere near as good as it used to be ,before the big one in Blackpool was opened,, They dont do large size articles anymore, and the small sizes cost almost as much, they just assume that everyone has access to their own transport and can get up there for a big shop ,which is not always the case....

Re: Tesco Poll (With Poll this time!)
I voted 'indifferent' because I shop on line for everything- so I wont be visiting that store OR strolling round the market

Re: Tesco Poll (With Poll this time!)
Tesco's is off my list too, shan't go there, the amount of stuff that my sister has had to take back to the Haslingden one for being past the sell by date is rediculous

Having said that, I did vote in favour, reason being that this town could do with the job's....might help out the local economy

my sentiments exactly...that could be 450 familys getting a boost of a needy income...and I voted in favour even though they put me out of a job when they moved to haslingden...

Why ?? If it's a regular thing then a) why go back time and time again and b) why not check the sell by dates as you buy it. If I see something out of date I make sure somebody gets told at the store.
