Forgot all about this thread! I have both models and, yes, the red does look slightly more subdued in real life. However, one of the models has a blue roof and I'm sure ACT buses always had red ones. Despite that, they're both beautiful items with lots of little details like the address of the transport office at the bottom of the bodywork. An evocative and poignant reminder of the days when Accrington had its own bus fleet...and one we could be proud of too!

Yes I think you're right. I'm fairly sure they always had red roofs. It was a very rich deep crimsony sort of red.
When I said "What coat of arms?" in an earlier thread I couldn't actually see the C of A on the side of the bus in the photo. Maybe I should have put my glasses on.

The coat of arms is actually quite well reproduced on the models, considering the size.
Quite a few of these buses are now turning up on ebay at reduced prices. |
