Thatcher tried to seduce Edward Heath

this is the sort of story I would have expected from Private Eye

Baroness Thatcher tried to seduce Sir Edward Heath for Conservative seat, new BBC drama claims - Telegraph

can anyone else think of more oddball political couplings ?

Er...no.

Though the image of her swingin' him around at, not by the, balls, conjures up an amusing picture.

I fear she would have needed an iron fist to seduce chaste old Teddy.

That upstanding pair of Conservatives, and beacons of Victorian morality, Eggwina Currie and vest tucked in his underpants lothario, John Major.

What, they really were at it behind their spouses back, whilst governing the country?

Where's the pukin' smiley?

Re: Thatcher tried to seduce Edward Heath

I don't believe a word of it. I think Lady Irondrawers would have resorted to blackmail rather than seduction and I think Ted Heath was a closet Gay, poor soul. There was never a whiff of scandal in that direction but, of course, homosexuality was illegal when he was younger and I think he just kept it confined to his yacht.

As the world's most unlikely couple, she is actually saying to him, "Smile, Teddy, or you will undergo yet another half hour on the sunbed."
