The Apprentice Love It or Loathe It?
After just watching the start of the new series of The Apprentice, it got me wondering what people thought of the new recruits? My initial reaction was where do they drag these people up from? If this is the so called Best this Country has to offer then blooming heck and are they so vein that don't ralise how pompous most of them sound? But I suppose it is part of the show's makeup to drag you in, for me it is compulsive viewing but I find it developing into like a pantomime with the goodies and the villains. To hear most of these recruits talking they already have the high powered jobs with probably matching salary why would anybody put themselves through it or is it just for the five minutes of fame? It's so damned irritating to see people who have probably never done a hard day's graft in their lives whittering about this deal and that deal but making complete asses of themselves but I love it?

Re: The Apprentice Love It or Loathe It?
When it says 'best in the country' it is referring to 'will make the best tv' rather than 'will make the best businessman'

That really should read 'best business person', in the modern world of commerce.
Cyfr, you're fired.

Re: The Apprentice Love It or Loathe It?
imo , all reality shows are crap , american idol , dancing with the stars, big brother , wife swap, biggest loser , nanny , etc,etc , all they do is provide cheap nasty television using grade 3 celebrities , which appeals to the lowest common denominator ...morons/chavs ......
All these cheap and easy to produce, unscripted TV programs do is create unemployment for creative script writers, established and up and coming actors and TV studio production personel ,and produce millions of $s for people like Simon Cowell and the disgusting Sharon Osbourne , have things sunk so low that we enjoy some sleazoid "businessman" or foul mouthed TV chef berating and demeaning some poor souls hypnotized by the lure of fame thru appearing on a television show .
ok rant over ..p.s. I am biased , I have friends who are members of the tv writers guild (union) and SAG (screen actors guild)

Re: The Apprentice Love It or Loathe It?
Very watchable - Alan Sugar give it the reality check some of these pompous fools need - they're trying to impress (con) someone who started at the bottom, worked his way up, using every trick in the book, fair or foul to get where he is today.
Most "apprentices" do not understand the very basics of commerce - to buy the product in as cheap as you can get it and sell it for the top price you can get
What were the boys team doing ?? at the end of the day, beggars belief, yet they were in an area surrounded by chippys and restaurants.......and they end up trying to sell their last lot of fish to a solicitors office........... got £50 for £130 worth of fish

Re: The Apprentice Love It or Loathe It?
Enjoyed the first series, but then got bored half way through the second. Not interested in it now as I suppose, like 'Big Brother', they do make it more of a showman thing now to hold our interest.
Do we ever get to find out how past winners are fairing by the way ?

Personally prefer "The Apprentice", did anybody see it last night? What did you think of girls team leader? Would have lost my place if I was on there because no way would she have talked to me like she was talking to the rest of her "Team"

Re: The Apprentice Love It or Loathe It?
*L*
its a shame that shazia was so weak in her defence. someone with a bit of head wud've ripped that team leaders accusations to bits. simple fact was - team leader u made the decision to send me home. i didnt walk off, i didnt desert the team you sent me. your decision. but the way the team leader tore into the other girls too i think they're gonna b very fragmented.
and @ next week *groan* @ bollywood night

couldnt agree more - though then again, im biased as well - I dont even own a TV. Anything worth watching can be bought or rented on DVD. Reality TV is complete and utter gutter trash. People putting themselves up to be judged by some quarter-wit who's career needs a 'pick me up'. Its TV for the uninspired and intellectually numb

Re: The Apprentice Love It or Loathe It?
Completely wrong person went last night. That Jenny is an awful person she was a bad, bad team leader, I just don't get what Sir Alan was thinking when he didn't fire her!! Oh well as they say, Karma's a bitch! It was good to see the boys getting on with it and working as a team, and i'm (worryingly) warming to Raef!!
Best bit of last nights episode though was Alex answering the phone in his Superman PJ's!!

Your opinion of the programme is fine (although you can't form a proper opinion until you've actually seen it!), everyone is allowed that.
But to call the people who watch it "uninspired & intellectually numb", I find this very harsh. You do not know me or other people who watch these shows, and I find it abhorrent & ignorant to start making that sort of judgement from what TV they watch (to say you don't even own one!)
