This crib that we have now is a new one this year. The old one was badly damaged by vandals last year. It was in the paper. All the front of the crib was smashed open and all the figures taken out and thrown all over the ground so that they too smashed to pieces.

I saw some of the damaged figures being restored and although they were chipped they weren't smashed to pieces. Some did need a bit of restructuring and then all of them needed touching up with paint. I haven't seen the finished result but it's a shame to have them inside a shed with a window so high they can hardly be seen. Even if it is a new one surely it could have been made like the one in Accy (which also had restoration work done on the figures) so that children can see in. Must try to get round there over Christmas and have a look at the thing.

Re: The crib in Oswaldtwistle, near the Co-op
I have now finally been to see this shed, er crib. Clearly the figures are not the ones which I saw being restored as these are much smaller and quite clearly brand new. Perhaps the restoration just didn't result in something which was able to be put on display. With these ones being so small why couldn't they have been put on a raised platform like the ones in Blackburn market? A star or something on the outside of the shed wouldn't have gone amiss and a bit of a 'hillside around Bethlehem' scene on the back wall. There is absolutely nothing to indicate that this is a crib. It just looks like the Co-op have taken to selling sheds.

And this is put on display by the council which is sooooo anxious to encourage tourism in the borough. Clueless. Absolutely bluddy clueless!

Re: The crib in Oswaldtwistle, near the Co-op
Seen the one in Barnes Square, Clayton-le-Moors over last few days .. lovely ... down to the floor which looks like some sort of laminated glass. Doesn't seem to be a problem, particularly as youngsters hang out here most nights. So, in my opinion, get it right you Osssie.
