The Old Fire Station
I read with interest that later this month this fantastic, stone, massive, grade-two listed building, is to go under the hammer at auction this month and is expected to bring...... WAIT FOR IT ...."BETWEEN SIXTY AND NINETY THOUSAND POUNDS) That must be the buy of the century thats only the cost of a moderate terraced house, and look at the possibilities of a building such as this. I TOTALLY DESPAIR. This is being sold by LCC not HBC or I could have understood it a little better. Lets face it a few quid each from all accynet would buy it, come on hyndburn wake up.

Re: The Old Fire Station
Suppose we bought it, what would we do with it?
Which leads me to wonder what anyone will do with it. Wouldn't have problems with garage space that's for sure. What other features does it have to offer?

Re: The Old Fire Station
I'm sure someone with some imagination could find a very good and profitable use for it. Lets face it the dressed stone in that place is worthh the asking price and the plot it stands on well, I couldn't even guess. I bet now after reading the Observer article some members of the public in Hyndburn are already putting together plans to turn it into something the rest do not want. If you get my thread.....................

Re: The Old Fire Station
I dread to think but bearing in mind the panopticon I could imagine anything! I'd reckon it was £60,000 well spent if I had it to spare.

Re: The Old Fire Station
I can see it now with a large green and gold dome on the top of the hose covered in stars and moons. It would be visible for mies. Why ruin the coppice.

Re: The Old Fire Station
I like the idea of a bungee station from the tower. We could install a climbing wall and have a zorbing zone using the hose pipes to provide the momentum behind the zorb, (seeing as we are a bit short of mountains around here). Just think, we could become the adventure capital of the UK. I wonder if PB could include this idea in his promotion of Hyndburn as a tourist spot.

Re: The Old Fire Station
I believe its a listed building so you can't do many changes to it.
