The re-cycling of Huncoat
Lancashire County Council are at it again. Not content with siting one of the biggest landfill sites in the the county on Huncoat's doorstep, which hosts the waste from Manchester, Bolton, and even Liverpool as well as our own bits and pieces, They have decided that we are going to have to play host to a brand new Waste Technology Park.
This is a facility which will take waste from the whole of the county and compost, recycle and package it for resale. It will be built on the site of the former Huncoat Power Station and will be accessed from the A56 on a new road built across greenbelt land which is used as a green corridor by much of the areas wildlife, especially Deer. Yes, we do have them in the neighbourhood and to come upon one of these shy creatures in the early mornings is a rare and special treat.
Apparently 11 other sites were originally considered but Huncoat has emerged as the favoured option. So Huncoat is to be crapped on yet again and sandwiched between a massive and expanding landfill site and the biggest waste treatment plant in the entire county. Aren't we lucky! You can almost hear the property prices falling through the floor.
