Re: The Sheriff Strikes

Perhaps, a way around it would be if for example a company needed an acre of land for car parking, instead of the white lines being placed a cars width apart the whole acre is divided into 10 free spaces.
Then if the owners of the cars 'accidentally' end up sharing the same space, the company owner can wring his hands and say, "I'm sorry what can I do? they are all bad drivers that work here, I can't afford to give them lessons in parking!".

It is yet again hitting the easy target the motorist, why can't these councils employ someone with imagination and start taxing people for wearing the colour green or red or.....

as others have said, providing a useful public transport system FIRST is the obvious one, as a motorist i DO use public transport when i can (have accyweb witnesses) do you? cos i'll make another short statement- its absolute crap.

Re: The Sheriff Strikes

Please, please fellas .. don't have a go at me .. just trying to obtain further information on the situation that's all ...

Wynonie: No, I will not give up my car, unless I am forced to is my answer. Problem is, I think there will come a time whereby we may be under tight driving restrictions in the best for the good of the whole. Have actually got a form for my Nowcard, but have retired now and in a different position .. do intend to use it when I can ('Cause it's free!). Last employment I had was working for a company within the group which owned Ossy Mills, and they have plenty of car parking space ... , so doubt whether I would have been affected much.

Cashy: Ah, yes, the call 'a spade a spade' man ... well that to me is another expression for being blinkered .. have to consider the other tools in the box.

Pipinfort :The government/county councils are spending millions on improving public transport at the moment, where monetary viable.

Less: That's funny, but nothing to do with the easy target .. this is not about the money but, as stated by my son, nobody will listen until it starts to hit their pocket.

No, Katex, IT IS, hitting an easy target, the motorist, almost everyone that works these days needs a car to get to and from and why? because there aren't enough alternative forms of transport in place to offer a viable alternative.

Parking-space tax will raise cost of driving to the office by £350 a year - Times Online
