The three RRR's-do they still matter?
Apparently they do! 400,000 new jobs created last year, 340,000 of them were taken by immigrants. Yet another top industrialist(David Frost, DG of the Chamber of Commerce) says 'they(the employers) expect young people to come forward to them who are able to read, write, communicate and have a strong work ethic and too often that's not the case'.
If, as our education professionals tell us, standards are rising, exam results soaring and more young ones are qualified to go to university, how come universities and employers are having to run remedial classes in the three R's? How come a young Pole with English as his second language is able to be more employable than a young Brit?
895,000 young people unemployed- 19% ! That's wicked and someone has let them down.
Don't just blame low wages, they're not good but good enough to attract other Europeans to come here. But then they don't get the unemployment benefits at home that we provide-Frost said this was a disinsentive to work. And you can't blame lack of jobs-340,000 would have brought youth unemployment a lot.
Everywhere you go now you are dealing with young, bright, cheerful, friendly East Europeans. Where are our bright, cheerful, friendly young Brits? Why are they less employable? They shouldn't be and they don't deserve to be.

Re: The three RRR's-do they still matter?
It is at this point were I find myself agreeing with the Lefties on the site.
Now we have made a million or so Illegals Legal and are forced to pay them minimum wage or stick them on the dole we are left with the dilemma of getting the Brussel Sprouts picked in time for the festive season.
To that end we will no doubt allow another million or so in to work the land for 50 bob an hour and so the cycle starts again.

This is from 2008.
Literacy tests for trainee teachers show that those who can't spell, teach - Times Online
In last week's Sunday Times there was an article saying teachers are to face tougher measures, regarding this test.
Instead of unlimited attempts to pass, they are to face three strikes and you're out rules.

Benepete, talk to the young Europeans and you find they are all from the EU. You can't stop them coming in.
I fully agree about the illegals being used as almost slave labour, that should be stopped.

Re: The three RRR's-do they still matter?
No matter what figures are published, showing more exams being passed, with better grades, education standards are falling.
I failed mathematics O-level.
I retook it years later as a G.C.S.E.
I'd not suddenly got more numerate, or indeed found it more interesting, it was just much, much easier.
Theree was no comparisson.
From a D to a A* grade, and I still can't do long division.

At no point did I mention Europeans but while we are on the subject of reading and comprehension perhaps you should re-read my name .
