So your the one responsible for the fashion trend in Accrington , white tube socks paired with 'trackie bottoms'

The thirty five quid socks were from our budget range, that I introduced.

The best socks were cashmere, but they were maunfactured in Switzerland.

Selective buying, based on origin of production, is a luxury few in the real world can afford.

Without inexpensive clothing produced in the far east, much of the world would be naked.

Which I fear wouldn't be a pretty sight.

I was the creative director, who helped the buyer out on some lines that needed improving.

I earned a very good salary, but would still have bought my socks from Primark, because as well as being cheaper, they were a better product.

Home grown ain't always best.

Though I suppose you already know that, living in America, as you do.

Re: The Tories

I think the Tories are on a good hiding to nothing.

Any ruling party of any country in the world who has “free trade” with China will all have zilch in the coffers and will be doing some creative thinking of how to borrow off Peter to pay Paul.
Until China makes an even playing field for imports this state of affairs will carry on.

If China was circulating the money around the world we wouldn’t be in this predicament – but statistics show that we’ve had years of her selling approximately five times more than she buys from each country. Even the people of the USA have been importing hundreds of billions of dollars worth of Chinese goods but here again China has only reciprocated by importing as little as it could get away with.

One look at her very new, very modern cities can see she is wallowing in money. What’s more her prices are so low she has won some very lucrative contracts in what were former British colonies in Africa.

Re: The Tories

Well its just as well the Tories have taken the measures with the economy because if we'd have carried on the rocky taken by Brown and Darling ie. borrowing borrowing and even more borrowing we would be in a real stew now, at least we've kept our triple A credit rating and are in a stronger position than a lot of our countries are now

As Harold McMillan said , quoting King Edward VII , " We are all socialists now . "

It's seems we are all capitalists now .

Re: The Tories

looks like they are not serious about fighting the debt crisis
The Tories have accepted more than £100,000 from a company behind a "sub-prime" financial services business that lends to people with poor credit ratings at interest rates of 45% and, in some cases, almost 200%.
The donation was accepted just four days before the government voted down plans to curb the power of subprime lenders.
The sub-prime market comprises people who may have difficulty maintaining the repayment schedule. Sub-prime loans have higher interest rates and less favourable terms in order to compensate for higher credit risk.
Records lodged with the Electoral Commission reveal that the Funding Corporation Group Ltd (FCGL), based in Warwickshire, donated £105,000 to the Tories on 24 June. The company also gave £25,000 last December.
FCGL owns 99.9% of the Funding Corporation Ltd which sells cars on hire purchase plans to drivers with poor credit ratings through a subsidiary, ACF Car Finance. The Funding Corporation Ltd also owns a debt recovery business, Red2Black Collections.
The companies are ultimately owned by Lord Edmiston, a staunch Tory party supporter and Christian philanthropist, who gave the Conservatives almost £300,000 between 2004 and 2009 under his own name.
Labour MP Stella Creasy, whose private members bill to curb the power of sub-prime lenders receives a second reading on 14 October, said the Tories' decision to accept the donation offered little hope that they would tackle the consumer debt crisis.
"The government has been dragging its heels on getting to grips with this problem and every month they don't take action and make the cost of credit more affordable, more people are getting into debt," Creasy said. "Those of us watching this have been wondering why they are so slow to act."
Online forums contain quotes from people who express satisfaction with ACF's services. But others express anger at its high interest rates. Some complain they became apparent only once they had signed up to buy a car.
A saleswoman for ACF explained to the Observer that a typical interest rate on a loan would be disclosed only after a client's credit rating had been checked and they had visited a showroom.
For those with a poor credit history who want to make repayments over a long period of time, the interest rates, once extra costs such as payment protection insurance are factored in, can be extremely high.
One man described in an online forum how he nearly bought a £7,000 car from ACF that would have ended up costing him £325 a month over 60 months, a total cost of £19,500, equivalent to an interest rate of almost 200%. Another bought a car valued at £5,995. But the true cost when interest and PPI was factored in came to £16,445.
The Tories' decision to accept the donation is potentially embarrassing. In opposition, they pledged to clamp down on Britain's private debt crisis. Last month, the chancellor, George Osborne, noted that out of "all the world's major economies the UK saw the biggest expansion in debt over the past decade".
He explained: "That's because we had the biggest housing boom, the most indebted families."
Measures that would have forced the lenders to curb some of their practices, were voted down by Lib Dem and Tory MPs on 28 June. A spokeswoman for the Conservatives declined to comment about the donation.

Re: The Tories

looks like hes listened to my advice hes going for a growth plan at last he was even losing support of the discredited imf
George Osborne is drawing up plans for a major growth package to boost the British economy, in what critics will say is a significant shift from his Plan A of austerity and spending cuts.

In what has been described in government circles as Plan A+, cabinet ministers have been told to identify big-ticket infrastructure projects that can be speeded up to jump-start growth.
The move follows President Obama's $450bn (£280bn) plan to create new jobs and cut payroll taxes, and comments on Friday by Christine Lagarde, head of the International Monetary Fund, who gave only qualified support to the UK Government's deficit reduction plan and said that Britain needed to show "readiness" to respond to flatlining growth.

and anyway we know this is not your own work...there are capital letters in it....and punctuation.
You still fail to note that this is not a tory government...it is coalition....but your rabid hatred of anything tory clouds your judgement, and you seek to find justification for your views where ever you can get it.
