I'm afraid they're helping more than Labour.

After thirteen years, whatever their good or bad points, everyone now knows, when it comes to economics Labour are hopeless.

The final nail in their coffin, leaving the note in the Treasury, that all the money had gone.

After their scorched earth spending policy, carried out once they knew they hadn't a cat in Hell's chance of being re-elected.

Haughty arrogance, to accompany their incompetence.

Re: The Tories

gotta disagree the tories copied labour last year by pumping more money into the economy but the damage was already done by starving the economy of cash.now we now see the domino effect when everbody who has a credit card are at their maximum

The economy was starved of cash, long before the coalition came to power.

Try asking anyone seeking a mortgage or loan, after the recession started in 2007.

1997-2010.

Spend, spend, spend.

When everyone was encouraged to hock themselves to the eyeballs.

Without a thought about the future, and how all these loans would need to be repaid.

New Labour.

Everyone shouldn't have credit cards.

That's part of the problem.

Three consecutive Labour governments, spending like there was no tomorrow, and making it easy for everyone else to do the same.

Actions have consequences.

Unless, like you, you're happy sticking your head deeper into the sand.

Re: The Tories

they never made it easier it was the banks, shops etc.

Government plans to abolish the social fund and transfer the responsibilty for crisis loans and grants to local councils (re Shredding the ultimate safety net, editorial, 23 January) are not the only example of regressive and damaging changes to what has been a national benefit system.

Council tax benefit is also being localised and cut by 10% for all claimants except pensioners, with councils having to decide who will receive, and in what proportions, what remains. In the year of the Dickens bicentenary we are witnessing the revival of 19th-century poor law with a patchwork quilt of key benefits varying according to where people live.

Oh really?..what criteria do you think people in your apparent socialist society should have credit cards?.. those who work hard to pay back the credit or those who live off credit (I'm sure you have met some in your epacades with the rich and famous)

Oh right.

In your utopian La-la land, simply everyone should be given access to unlimited credit, which brings untold misery for many, when the heavies are sent in, to get the money, plus massive interest back?

Great.

Sir Jagger not going?? A big loss to the country(and to the Davos Conference). Perhaps they should cancel it.

But what was your point(if there was one).

Tea and bicuits in Switzerland is a Google Page Ranking excercise for Davy boy, not UK talent.

I can understand why Mick Jagger opted out.
Who is paying for travel to go there, and the Earl Grey and custard creams?
