Paperchains?
You could get the children to make them. Most art shops still sell the packs of gummed paper strips, and you could but the colours you like.
You could even use them after Christmas to pretend to Mthead that you were tied to the kitchen sink, knowing you could break out easliy and get back to being a lady of leisure.
