Thirteen year old girl in kidnap drama.

Disturbing news in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph of a young 13 year old girl narrowly avoiding being forced into a van by three males,in Blackburn. The girl who was accompanied by friends was able to escape the trios intentions, as they attempted to force them into the van.
Perhaps we should be extra vigilant in our own neighbourhoods?

Re: Thirteen year old girl in kidnap drama.

Its seemingly becoming a sick common story lately Lampman, I think being niave in our neighbourhoods is something that needs to be addressed, gone is the freedom we used to enjoy & kids today have to be very aware of their personal safety. Is it a case its always been like this but its now more publicised & reported or is it a case theres no deterant for sicko perverts & they are on the increase???

Re: Thirteen year old girl in kidnap drama.

Having just reread the Telegraph link,I realise that there is an additional cause for concern as the males were reportedly Asian.
This sort of occurence will give extremist cause to claim,'this is what we told you was happening'.
Very worrying.

Re: Thirteen year old girl in kidnap drama.

Sorry Lampman but I have to side with Bobs comments. Political correctness & racism are old one way streets & if we cant speak on both sides of the coin then what happened to free speech. Last time I looked in a dictionary the words white & black were still there. We may live in a multicultural society but our rules & laws were here first & should take precidence over foreign ideals. After all we cant go to other countries & dictate our ideals over their rules & regulations. This country has gone daft & soft in the head & why we are rapidly in decline. Dont get me wrong, I am far from being a racist, I simply believe that we all have a right to free speech but context & both sides of the issue should be taken into account. We have a democratic society that used to ensure home rule were for the benefit of uk citizens, if you want to become a citizen in the usa you have to declare your allegience & agree to integrate-try calling that racist.

Re: Thirteen year old girl in kidnap drama.

Can't find anything to disagree with there Big Al,this Country has gone overboard in its attempts to be tolerant, allowing people to live here that other countries would ban or execute.
Time for a rethink!

Re: Thirteen year old girl in kidnap drama.

Well I now read it was all meant as a joke by the men involved.
Hmm! I wonder how they proved that?

regardless of colour race or whatever how the hell can somone seriously think of pulling up along a total stranger then try dragging them into a van and think that is a perfectly good joke

mind you accepting that explination sure saved a lot of paperwork i suppose and ime pretty sure the girl involved isnt the one left laughing

Re: Thirteen year old girl in kidnap drama.

The fact that the perpetrators passed it off as "a joke" doesn't make the offence any less appalling and I find it hard to believe that the police have taken no action. If the girl, who presumably didn't see the funny side, had been harmed, as a joke, would that have been OK too? There seems to be something seriously wrong with the police attitude.

Re: Thirteen year old girl in kidnap drama.

Very often the police have no say in who is punished, the CPS are the ones who make the decisions

I smell a rat somewhere! How can it be proved to be a joke unless the agreived girl has complied in the result.
