I once saw a woman with an extra little thumb growing out of the base of her real thumb - many years ago - nowadays that sort of minor deformity would be corrected in childhood.

Continuing this historical thread wander----
The Stuart kings had a genetic hand deformity whereby the 2 central fingers were fused ---not so rare -- a child was born in Bramley Meade when I was there in 65, who had the same.

My childhood friend has web toes ... not a good swimmer though ...

She might only be the queen of the chatshows, but apparently Oprah suffers from hexadactylism, otherwise known as having six toes.

I'll set the time machine to 1985, to check if she had that number when she starred in the film The Color Purple.
