Tinker's Stop & Rest.

'Space for gypsies and travellers will have to double in the next seven years, a Government quango has ordered.'
'The report by North West planning body 4NW also calls for a 10-fold increase in pitches in Hyndburn.'
More space needed in East Lancashire for travellers (From Blackburn Citizen)

'Travellers are to be evicted after setting up camp on land earmarked for Elevate housing.'
'Hyndburn Borough Council has told the travellers to move on after caravans began to appear on land off Blackburn Road, Accrington.'
Travellers in Hyndburn told to move on (From Blackburn Citizen)

Seems like H.B.C. face a bit of a dichotomy on this one.

Re: Tinker's Stop & Rest.

if these idiots that said we needed more gypo spaces actually took a look around hyndburn they would see there are way too many locations for them as it is ,ossy which is a very small area has to accomodate 2 sites as it is but to be honest i think 1 gypo caravan park is too many

Hyndburn traveller site extension gets go-ahead

'PLANS to double Hyndburn’s gipsy and traveller pitch provision have been given the go-ahead. Councillors on Hyndburn’s planning commitee agreed to the plans which will see an extension of the Whinney Hill site between Huncoat and Altham.'

When I saw this thread title I thought it was about my old watering hole on Fielding Lane Garinda
the fact is Ossy has had a gypsy site longer than I care to remember (before I was born) Romany Gypsies are okay its the tinkers or Travellers as they are call who are the problem

Only if there was a recorded vote asked for, always remembering that planning applications can only be turned down if they contravene planning regulations, they can't be turned down because councillors don't like it, no matter who the application is from cashy. If an application is turned down and it is referred to the government and overturned the council would be saddled with a large bill

Re: Tinker's Stop & Rest.

I thought planning applications could be turned down if the people living near the 'proposed changes' objected, if not, why not?

if it was turned down, Who would actually refer it to the government? or is that a loaded question?

People who apply for planning permission have right of appeal to, I think its the Home Office, Planning law is very complex to say the least. Don't know if this is still the case, but it used to be that an application passed at the planning meeting could not be overturned at full council, but this was in the committee days, the planning committee was the only one with these powers. Planning Applications can't be turned down unless they break planning or I think town and country planning laws. maybe Bernard or Graham (if he now as time) can clarify this

Yes, of course it can if enough people object with 'good enough' reasons. Look at Hilltop.

As usual, all neighbouring residents were notified, and no objections were put forward.

It's all in here if you wish to look through it.
