I can see where they are coming from. However I don't think it should be banned, just viewed from a historical perspective, and understand that it was written when Belgium was an imperial power, and that happily we've moved on.
Most of Shakespeare would be banned too, if we were to be totally politically correct.

I remember the golly wogs, (rag doll),cant seem to see them in the shops anymore
also didnt they ban the pic of one on the jams too? dont know why!

yep they banned the jam jar labels, had a scotch/west indian mate around that time who fell about laughing at the stupidity of it. forgot to add- his daughter who i saw about 3 yrs ago has kept 2 cuddly toys from her childhood, a teddy bear,n a gollywog.

As stated, I don't think it, or any book, should ever be banned. Prohibition sets a dangerous precedent.
