To plant or not to plant

Just seen the long range weather forecast for the next few days. Rain tomorrow, Sunny and getting warmer for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Then back to been cold with hail or snow for Monday. The thing is i was going to go the garden centre to get some plants on Friday, dare i plant them over the weekend or are we likely to end up with ground frosts next week.

Re: To plant or not to plant

Give it another week Sara, use the time to sit back and reflect how you would like your garden to look when summer comes.....To do this you need two large bottles of wine, a warm comfy chair and a few pleasantries like? Well, more wine….Enjoy

Plant perennials if you can protect 'em if we do get frost.
Do not buy bedding plants' til May, they'll last longer too.

Re: To plant or not to plant

I never plant anything out before the end of April. I've got a couple of small plastic "plant houses", the sort you can buy in B & Q for about £20, and I buy the plants now and put them in there. Plant out now and you'll lose at least half of them.

I'll go with Doug on this one, any garden can look fabulous after half a bottle of cabernet sauvignon.

Re: To plant or not to plant

Well folks looks like wine is the best suggestion, so i suppose instead of buying a box of plants it should be a box of wine. Or at least a couple of bottles.

Buy it buy the dozen Sara it'll last longer and you can use the bottles to scare off the local moggies by making yourself a wine chime..............

Don't buy all the same. The wine chime will sound better with different shapes and sizes of bottles.
