What I like
1. Jack Daniels.
2. Ben & Jerrys
3. Subway

No president can do what he likes. We have divided government here. I check the Constitution often and it seems pretty darn clear to me. POW's, (or terrorists if you prefer), are held until hostilities cease. It's always been done that way. Those who are American citizens get their day in a U.S. court, (and have). The rest don't qualify for Constitutional rights. The political system itself isn't corrupt - but we certainly have politicians who can be corrupted - and are. We have the Rule of Law - and it must be followed. Sooner or later these people get flushed out......but not soon enough for yours truly.

I have one thing that folks from the UK should like about America - the pound to dollar exchange rate just now. Sure helps make visiting the USA a better value!

Perhaps this article, which appeared in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, will help you. www.heritage.org/Press/Commentary/ed100406b.cfm

True but not much fun the other way round.

To think people could be crimbo shopping in the Big Apple with the same list as for London and even with airfare it could be cheaper.

Bullseyebarb , sorry but I find it a bit disingenous to use comments from a conservative/right wing group to justify your arguments, the same folks who are responsible for the current mess we now find ourselves in.

As opposed to a socialist/left wing group - which I am sure you would prefer. If I could find one that made any sense to me, I might post a link occasionally. I assume the "mess" you are referring to is the war against Islamic extremism and Iraq in particular. Let us not forget that it was President Clinton's policy that there should be regime change in Iraq. Every major intelligence agency in the world thought Saddam had WMD. Both Democrats and Republicans were in agreement. If you read speeches and comments made by Democrats prior to 9/11 and for some time thereafter, they are exactly the same as those being said by Republicans and President Bush. Convenient to forget these things, I guess, when the road gets a little rocky.
