Less do you mean the kind of Police force that will appoint someone like Ali Dizai...promote him because of his ethnic origin, listen to his cries of 'racism'.......then pay him out for the said infringement of his rights?
No of course you don't.
You want someone who is intelligent, has a moral sense of duty, can interact sensibly with members of the public(who after all pay his wage)......don't hold your breath. I fear this kind of policing has gone the way of the dinosaur.
Less, I'm agreeing with Margaret here.

Don't worry, I'm not going down THAT road again....

Rubbish.. the laws on defending ones self from intruders in the home have been in place since 1953 in this country.. and did not change with the Human Rights Act.

I think you may benefit if you occasionally took your head out of the sand Mancie, there are cases ever week where householders have been arrested for the hennas crime of defending their own home and family, if some scumbag enters my home uninvited with the sole purpose of theft or doing harm then I'm sorry I'll use anything to hand to make sure they don't succeed

Re: Tough on Crime tough on causes of crime

I think that it is rather sad that most of us appear to have such a low opinion of the Police Force? I know from the limited contact that I have had with members of the constabulary, on and off duty, that I would trust very few of them to be able to uphold their own trousers-without assistance-much less the law. But then I am of an older generation and still remember what the Police were like in the 50's and 60's. They were, mostly, still as thick as two short planks but, at least most of them were honest and generally knew the difference between right and wrong and were not afraid to apply that knowlege.

hang on..you stated that Blair and the human rights charter were to blame for the laws regarding what sort of defence you can put up when there is an intruder in your home.. but the same laws have been in place since 1953.. and did not change.. get yer facts on track

this device may help keep you and your family safe , guess its not really suitable for homes with small children or family members who may have mental problems

Think I'll stick to my baseball bat (and of course Macs' chain lead) god I could do some damage with them, and believe me I would have no qualms about using them

The laws may have been in place but the human rights act has altered the execution of those laws in favour of the offender. To me when and offender steps out of line and enters a persons home to do harm or damage, their rights should go out the window, end of
