Like Cashy said, it has.
They thanked HBC for the generous financial benefits they'd received, when they moved out.
Lucky Ossy Mills.
Other town centre traders don't similarly benefit from tax breaks, reduced rents, and not paying business rates.

There is actually a rate reduction on at the moment, from October 2010 - October 2011. However it's Government led not council led.

It hasn't actually gone down too well with the bus drivers who use it for their own comfort breaks, a few complaints have already gone in. The nearest alternative means leaving the vehicle unattended for around 10 minutes.
I'm loving the well thought through nature of the Conservative cost cutting.

Apart from a small amount of electricity there is no costs being saved. The same people who check the toilets a couple of times a day now are still being employed. The real reason is to increase footfall for a very select few people at the expense of other shopkeepers and ( pardon the pun ) the inconvenience of the aforementioned bus drivers and general public.

No, not yet.
The only problem with FOI is that it takes up to 20 working days to get a response. I'm fairly sure there's a quicker way of finding out some things and I need to have a word with Member Services up at HBC, they've been extremely helpful so far.

Re: Town Centre Changes
I notcied this morning one of the large Choices units in the Arcade has now closed down. The others look a bit sparse so not sure what they are doing.

Re: Town Centre Changes
Netto is closing down either this week or next week, to make way for Morrisons

The entrance to the Victorian arcade now looks terrible.
To save rent they've consolidated all their stock in the other shop.
Some traders are trying to pursuade the landlord to at least let then dress the window, whilst it's empty, so it doesn't look quite so run down.

Perhaps they need a coffee shop with toilet facilities?

Still nothing, plus we appear to be suffering from the curse of the missing posts.
Does it have anything to do with this?

Re: Town Centre Changes
Have heard a rumour that there are plans in the pipe-line to have a "wine bar/bistro" in the Victorian Arcade. The plan is to knock three or four units into one to achieve this, the thing is these are listed buildings. Would you just be allowed to knock them through given their listed status??
