I note that 'UK Call Centres' has become a selling point recently but, despite my loathing of automated systems, I still find myself preferring the Train Tracker system when checking rail times after I was told that a journey from Rishton to Preston would take over four hours and I would have to change trains twice. The final straw came when I was asked what the postcode was for Manchester Victoria so that the operator could find it on her system.
I'm sure someone calling from Bombay would be just as impressed with my knowledge of India....

Re: Town Centre Changes
I needed to phone Orange broadband service a few days ago when I found my internet connection was down.
The young man was asian, and although his english was fairly understandable, he told me to type a web address - using 0(nought) in places where .(dot) should be, and so the call was prolonged unneccessarily (at my expense) until it dawned on me that his instruction was flawed.

Re: Town Centre Changes
Apparently it's Farmfoods last day today, everything half price.
Heard it's going to be taken over by Heron Foods.
Also heard that the Famous Names shop on Union St closed down last week

Re: Town Centre Changes
I walked past Farm Foods today and wondered why there were so many people inside. I just HAD to have a nosey of course, so went inside. I was DISGUSTED at the greedy, greedy people who had SHOPPING TROLLIES PILED HIGH with ANYTHING in, cos apparently everything was half price. I walked out, disgusted in the human race!

Re: Town Centre Changes
Famous Names in Union St. has gone, it was open on Saturday, and looked fully stocked........so to have the shop totally empty my Monday morning must have taken quite a bit of hard work.
I suppose the Lady Clitheroe Shop will be quite pleased....though to be honest I can't see that lasting long.

Apparently that's owned by Kevin Horkins, but doesn't seem to have any of the pizazz associated with his other businesses.
I've rarely seen anyone in there.

Re: Town Centre Changes
Nah then! Guess what I am picking up on ....... fascinating is this!!!! I have heard today that the reason the fashion shop in Union Street has closed (you are sure it has?) is because IT IS GOING TO BE PULLED DOWN TO MAKE A WALK WAY THROUGH TO THE NEW BUS STATION!!!!!!!! How about that!!!!!!

Blimey.
Is the word on the street it's just one shop that's going to be demolished?
Makes geographical sense, but seems a little premature, for as far as I know nothing's been confirmed about the bus station.

Re: Town Centre Changes
I think the speed of it's exit would suggest that isn't the reason

My mum was spitting feathers.
She still had two pounds to spend, left on a credit note.
