Have to acquire the funding yet, which will be some time off.

But Mr Moss, what a perfect shop to demolish to make a walk way, almost directly across from the Arndale shopping centre, i.e. straight across to the new bus station . . . and ... if you look on the maps done by the council there is indeed a shop edged in RED in a similar area to the fashion shop? Bit premature I agree, but ....
Happened to spot one of the ex-assistants this morning. She is really upset. It was the first time she had been to look at the empty shop i.e. her ex place of employment. She said they had noticed not much stock being delivered to the shop over the past few weeks, but just put that down to perhaps the owners trying to get rid of their summer stock, in preparation for winter clothes. At 4.00pm on Sat they got a phone call, from the boss, to say THEY WERE CLOSING!!!!!!! That was the first they knew about it!!!

Re: Town Centre Changes
The plans are for a walkthrough directly opposite the Arndale entrance. I am not sure that LCC have bought the premises and furthermore its value will relate to its trading position so it is their interests to keep trading. The shop LCC are going to try and acquire is the Abbey National.
The Government have not given the green light for any money for the scheme. Sounds to me as though it may have shut due to the lack of trade??

Not suprising, there won't be a shop left in the UK soon through lack of trade

Re: Town Centre Changes
Their shop in Bury was shuttered today too.......only the market stall operating.
That'll cut down their overheads(and their profits like as not).

The card shop in the Arndale a short distance away was cheaper anyway and did all the same stuff so not a surprise that it has closed.
Never seemed busy where as the one int Arndale always is.
Saying that though, not good all these empty shops.

Re: Town Centre Changes
the cheap card shop in the arndale are rubbish for customer service ... told the assistant i would never buy anything from there again seeing as they were more interested about talking about their night out rather than serving a customer ... id rather go and pay more at clintons and get good customer service rather than have to listen to what they'd gotten up to the nite before or have to wait for 5p change - and when i said im not bothered they said oh no you have to have your change ...
